The ISO 14050:2009 facilitates the implementation of the ISO 14000 series in 12 languages

By analyzing these figures, and in view of the global context and the wide application of the ISO 14000 series of standards, it is now clearer than ever that the publication of ISO 14050 is crucial to the development of this series of standards.

This newly revised edition should further facilitate even further the application of the ISO 14000 series of standards on environmental management. By establishing a common vocabulary, ISO 14050:2009 will ensure the effectiveness of communication, key for the implementation and operation of environmental management systems (EMS).
ISO 14050:2009, Environmental management - Vocabulary has been fully updated to include clear and concise definitions of all concepts and advances in this field. This standard provides in the three official ISO languages (English, French and Russian) as well as in Arabic and Spanish the entirety of the notions and terms used in the ISO 14000 series of standards, with equivalent terms in Dutch, Finnish, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese and Swedish.

ISO 14050 also clarifies any eventual doubt that the users of ISO 14000 series could have concerning the terminology and the relevant concepts; it will also help in keeping the coherence.
It will also be very useful to those that develop standards, in particular to the translators.
