NBN and BEC join forces

All standards available on one platform from now on

BRUSSEL – From 1 January 2023, all electrotechnical and electronics standards will also be added to NBN's offering. NBN and BEC signed an agreement to this effect yesterday. This mean all Belgian, European and international standards will be offered in one place.

To date, BEC (Belgian Electrotechnical Committee) was responsible for the sale of electrotechnical and electronics standards and NBN (Bureau for Standardisation) for all other standards. An agreement was signed on 26 October to also include electrotechnical and electronics standards in the NBN offering from 1 January 2023. Both Dirk De Moor, Secretary-General of the BEC, and Johan Haelterman, chairman of the NBN Executive Committee, are very pleased with this partnership.

The switch to one central standards platform translates into a better service and higher cost efficiency.

Beneficial for everyone

This change is a logical step that benefits everyone:

  • All Belgian, European and international standards are finally available to customers and companies in one place.
  • BEC members and NBN customers benefit from a larger offer and a broader service.
  • BEC members are able to manage their existing collection on the NBN platform.

The development of electrotechnical and electronics standards will remain with BEC. The Technical Officers will also remain the single points of contact at BEC for content-related questions on BEC standards.

Companies need simple solutions. And this important step makes the lives of a lot of people much easier.
