Standardisation in Belgium
In Belgium, the Bureau for Standardisation (NBN) is responsible for developing and selling standards. In addition, NBN also organised trainings on the use of management standards. For the standardisation process, NBN can count on more than 3,400 Belgian experts, who are actively involved in many committees and ensure that:
- standards take into account the interests and views of Belgian companies
- societal stakeholders can draw attention to consumer or environmental protection
- companies are aware of future developments and trends, making them more competitive
For some sectors, standards are developed by sector operators, which are responsible for the administrative and technical monitoring of one or more standardisation committees within a specific technical field. Sector operators are recognised by the NBN Board of Directors. For more information, see the Sector operators page.
