Standardization in this field will provide a framework for the effective management of beauty services in order to promote quality, provide guidance on best practices and protect consumers from dangerous or unhygienic treatment practices.
It is proposed to create a Project Committee in order to work on a European Standard covering the management of a beautician business and the quality of service proposed to the customer. The scope of the standard would not include sales outlets and exclude leisure centres/gyms, swimming pools and hairdressing salons.

Since September 15 (2008) some changes have taken place in the sale of BEC Standards. The sales department of the NBN will no longer be in charge of the sale of standards belonging to the following series:
NBN EN 55000, NBN EN 60000, NBN EN 61000, NBN EN 62000, NBN EN 80000, NBN EN 100000 and NBN HD.
We therefore kindly ask you to order standards from these series directly through the “shopping basket” of the Belgian Electrotechnical Committee (BEC) website, the web address of which is:

However, the corresponding IEC standards will still be sold from our Foreign standards department normes.etrangeres@nbn.be.

An ISO survey published last year showed that up to the end of 2007 at least 154 572 certificates of compliance with ISO 14001:2004 (requirements for environmental management systems) had been issued in 148 countries.
