Eurocodes

The Eurocodes, the basis for building design for 20 years, are being revised. Some updated versions are already available but will not take effect until the national annexes are published.
What are Eurocodes?
Buildings and structures are complex and must meet high safety and reliability requirements. This is why the Eurocodes were developed: a set of harmonised European standards for the design, calculation and testing of building structures. They form the basis for regulations in Europe and ensure structural safety, durability and serviceability.
The Eurocodes were drafted by CEN with experts from all over Europe. In Belgium, several standards committees, under the coordination of Buildwise, work on these building standards and the corresponding national annexes.

With uniform, internationally aligned calculation methods, you are assured of reliable and safe structures.
You work with high-quality, consistent building products based on harmonised standards.
You strengthen your position in the European market thanks to a set of building standards that apply in all member states.
You gain an understanding of the applicable rules in Europe, supplemented by the national annexes tailored to the specific Belgian context.
List of Eurocodes
The first generation of Eurocodes consists of 10 groups (EN 1990 to EN 1999). The second generation, currently under development, will consist of 11 groups with a new set of standards for glass structures (EC 11).
