Discover NBN's revamped offer for higher education!

22/4/2024

With standards, we form the bridge between higher education and the labour market. Standards are a reliable source of knowledge, reflecting the official, most up-to-date technological knowledge in a particular field. They translate theory into practice, making your lessons tangible for students. And we are only too happy to help you share this crucial topic with your students.

NBN Education: the bridge to practical application

Our revamped Edu portal is in the final testing phase and is poised to make standards even more accessible. The fresh new look is just the tip of the iceberg; we worked hard to improve the user experience and make it easier and faster than ever to find standards. We also added a job finder, so we can effectively give students a push into the job market.

In addition to the Edu portal – which is free to academics, teachers and students – we also want to provide more guidance on the use of standards in a learning environment. What are standards, and why should you use them as a student? What are their benefits, and how do you get started with the Edu portal? We'll cover all this and much more in our info session. And it's not only about the theory – we also want to explore the value of standards throughout the development of a product in a fun and engaging way.

To do this, we developed a competitive business game where students compete against one or more teams and try to win the majority of the pizza market using a smart strategy, creative approaches, and by implementing standards. Over the course of the game, your students get to see the value of standards in different stages of production.

But it's not all fun and games – sometimes you need a solid theoretical foundation for your lessons. In addition to our e-learning courses on standardisation and quality management, we have also developed a complete teaching kit on the 'NBN writing standard' (the 'NBN schrijfnorm'). This gives your students a solid base during lessons or a test, and gives you, as an education professional, more background on the standard.

Will you win the next Flemish Thesis Prize?

Is sustainability the common thread throughout your thesis? Then, not only can you increase its visibility with the NBN Sustainability Award, which we communicate widely about, but it also looks great on your CV, it helps you connect with other candidates and organisations, and you can win a nice prize.
